The Air Jordan 4 GS “University Blue” is the youth sizing of the colorway of Michael Jordan’s legendary fourth signature shoe that salutes the UNC Tar Heels. While it’s hard to believe, the “University Blue” is the first-ever Jordan 4 to employ the popular “UNC” theme. The look, dedicated to Michael Jordan’s alma mater, first appeared on the original Air Jordan 1 in 1985 and was brought back on the original Air Jordan 9 in 1994. Since then, the “UNC” colorway has graced models like the Women’s Jordan 1 Mid and the Jordan 3. Here, Jordan Brand adds several athletic inspired touches to the look, including adding a “removable” name tag to the nylon Jumpman branding on the suede tongue. The design references the product tag found on the bottom of basketball jerseys. A plush University Blue suede material forms the base of the upper and tonal mesh netting appears on the tongue and mid-panel. Black plastic lace holders are located on the throat and collar and the plastic “Wings” tabs are given a classic “Cement” finish. Further, the “Cement” detailing also appears on the back of the shoe with black Jumpman branding and on the mudguard. Release date: April 28, 2021.
