The Air Jordan 5 JSP “Laney Varsity Royal” is a continuation of the original “Laney” colorway for the Jordan 5 that is inspired by the team colors of Michael Jordan’s high school, Emsley A. Laney in Wilmington, North Carolina. Originally released in 2000 as one of the first non-OG colorways of the Air Jordan 5, the “Laney” theme returned in 2019 with a Varsity Royal nubuck upper with yellow accents and a grey speckled midsole. The remix of the original “Laney” AJ5 is completed with reflective silver tongues. The chenille Jumpman logos are a reference to traditional high school varsity jackets. The Air Jordan 5 JSP “Laney Varsity Royal” released in January 2019.
