The Air Jordan 9 “University Gold” is a January 2021 colorway of Michael Jordan’s ninth signature shoe. Sneaker collectors may find similarities between the “University Gold” and “Citrus” colorway that originally debuted in July 2010. Like the “Citrus,” the “University Gold” makes use of a predominantly neutral design with subtle pops of orange, or in this case, yellow. That’s where the similarities between the two coveted sneakers comes to an end. The rest of the “University Gold” displays a black synthetic nubuck construction with a “diamond” motif appearing along the medial and lateral sides of the shoe. A grey synthetic nubuck mudguard above the black midsole breaks up the look. Contrasting University Gold accents on the liner, pull tab, and “Air Jordan” branding on the tongue add a subtle but welcoming burst of color to the look. The same yellow hue can be found on the embroidered “23” branding on the heel and Jumpman insignia on the sole. A mini “globe” emblem on the back of the shoe finishes off the design of the Air Jordan 9 “University Gold.” Release date: January 30, 2021.
